I am a bit of a Christmasaholic and love everything about this time of year. I have been tagged by Naomi at Not a Perfect Parent in the Christmas Tag which gives me an opportunity to tell you exactly what I like most about Christmas!
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
I struggle to choose just one…I could happily spend all day watching Christmas 24! I think my favourite is probably ‘While you were Sleeping’ – I’m a succour for a romantic comedy! I also love The Santa Clause though too….Oooh and Miracle on 34th Street!
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
I think the year Phoebe was born was officially a white Christmas – that was 2010. I remember pushing the pram around in the slush and snow which wasn’t pleasant!
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
We are normally at home. It’s hard to go anywhere else with 2 dogs. This year the kids and I are going to my sister’s on Boxing Day and Mr C is staying home with the pups!
What is your favourite Christmas song?
I would play Christmas music all year round if I could! I love Chris Rea ‘Driving home for Christmas’ and also Wham ‘Last Christmas’.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
We have a Christmas Eve box each that usually has some chocolate, a book or a magazine, some Christmas PJs and socks. We started this tradition about 3 years ago and the children love it!
Can you name all of Santa’s Reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen. There’s Rudolph too but I personally don’t think he counts! I love reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ at bedtime on Christmas Eve!
Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
We are going Ice Skating then off to meet Santa and then on Christmas Eve we will be at the Pantomime which always makes me feel super Christmassy!
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
We have one of each! Our fake tree is in the kitchen and we have had this one for 15 years since our first Christmas together. The one in the lounge is real, you can’t beat the smell of a real tree.
What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
This one is easy…anyone that knows me knows that I love a mince pie! I could eat a whole packet in one sitting – but at nearly 300 calories a pop I don’t think my waist line would approve!
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
I love making gifts for others but I do stress over what to make or buy for people. I’m not a good decision maker so can spend hours trying to decide on the perfect gift. So I probably prefer to receive even though I do like it when I get someone the right gift…I’m not sure I’m too good at that though!
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
My little Phoebe! She arrived on 30th November so I reckon that’s close enough to call her a Christmas present!
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
We have spent new year in Disneyworld and that was pretty awesome but I think I would like to spend Christmas somewhere snowy one year.
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
Before I had the children I would spend hours wrapping presents beautifully with ribbons and bows…nowadays people are lucky to get their gift wrapped at all!
Most memorable Christmas moment?
There are so many it’s just too hard to say. I love it when the whole family are together and that really never happens anymore as there are just too many of us!
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
My Mum used to volunteer for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and sell their souvenirs. One year my stocking was full of these RNLI gifts – it was kind of a giveaway! I was 8.
What makes the holidays special for you?
Simply being at home with family. Happy faces, yummy food and silly games…my idea of bliss.
Merry Christmas all!
