Good morning all my lovely fans of Monday motivation! Thank you for bearing with me last week while I indulged in a slightly less motivational post but we are back with a vengeance today! Why? Because it’s September and that means exciting times are on the way.
Whilst I love the Summer months and the long light evenings there is something magical about the moment that Summer turns to Autumn. The first day you notice that Autumn is on it’s way you can feel it in the air. It’s a difficult thing to describe but when I open the window on a late August – early September morning and the air smells of Autumn I get a little fizz of excitement that sparks inside. I looked into the garden just yesterday afternoon and the grass was littered with orange leaves from neighbouring trees and there was that crisp feeling that you only get in September, when you know Autumn is around the corner and it put an instant smile on my face.
Another thing that gets me excited at this time is the start of the new school year. Not just because the kids are back to school this week and we can breathe a sigh of relief that someone else can look after them for 6 hours a day 5 days a week but also because the new school year means new stationary!! My favourite thing about going back to school was the inevitable shopping trip that would happen the week before and the new school bag, pencil case and diary that were obviously essential. My love for all things shiny and new in September has never really left me and I still make that special trip to stock up!
This year I have been particularly organised as far as the children’s back to school items go and we did all the uniform, stationary and school bag shopping back in July (I know! Get me!!). So this week, while the children were away with their Grandparents I took a little trip just for me. As I have mentioned before, Home Sense is by far my favourite shop for just about everything and they didn’t disappoint. I didn’t actually go mad, but intend to go back next week to get a few more things that I left on the shelf! I love my new planner though which was a snip at just £10 and these pencils look so pretty on my desk…probably too pretty to use!
I’ve also started stocking up on the odd Autumnal pieces in the house – I’ll probably do a little house tour post when it’s finished. I bought these flowers in Aldi at the weekend and they just give a beautiful warm feeling to our sitting room. The Autumn and Christmassy scents have found their way onto the shelves in all the shops as well – candles, plugins, diffusers you name it, I want them all! To be honest I don’t often ever tire of pumpkin spice scents and my current favourite in my office is my pumpkin waffles scented candle! It’s been lit on and off for the last 4 months!

I wrote an Autumn favourites post last year but I will definitely be updating that this year and have been mentally putting together an Autumn bucket list. What would be on your Autumn bucket list and does September give you the same excitement and buzz that it gives me?!
Have a great week!
Nicx
