Good morning! Welcome to your little dose of motivation on a Monday morning! I am back to work today which is not great, but I’m clinging onto the fact that it is only two days in the office. The Summer holidays are flying by and I can’t believe we are half way through already. We’ve packed quite a lot into 3 weeks and there are very few free days left now before the children are back to school in September. They are both off to Devon with my parents in the last week and I’m probably going to be working some overtime while they are away but if not I will be frantically getting everything ready for the new term…I think there’s lots of sewing to be done! The one thing we have struggled with this holidays is family time.
Time with your family is so important and we have really enjoyed our trips away over the past few years where Mr C’s older son Harry has been able to join us and we’ve really felt able to relax and enjoy time together. Mr C works in leisure and unfortunately that means school holidays are his busiest time. Whilst he can have time away, if he is in this country and can be contacted then invariably he is and so never really gets a break. It’s often easier for him to just go to work as he knows things will get done and he can then come home and relax in the evening.
So unless we are away on holiday it can be pretty rare to get any proper family time at all. So far this Summer holiday we have had 3 days out as a family and they’ve been great…we’d like more of them! We had a brilliant time last week at Alton Towers theme park where Phoebe went on her first proper roller coaster. She wasn’t too sure, but she’s such a brave and confident young lady I thought she’d be fine. As we whizzed round I looked over and said “Are you enjoying it?”, she was white as a sheet and just said “No! I hate it”. Not sure she’ll be doing it again for a while! We were surprised how quiet it was, we didn’t have to queue at all for any of the big rides, which is so unusual. It made for a brilliant day and we came home thoroughly exhausted!
On Monday last week we ventured off to Woburn Safari Park. We’ve been there many times before and it’s a firm favourite. The animals were on good form and we had a great day enjoying the wildlife. The kids had a go on the high ropes course there (I declined this time!) and we particularly enjoyed meeting one of the elephants and getting to stroke her as she walked past. Apologies…but lots of photos of cute animals now follow! I took my small compact camera which is great but I so wish I’d taken my DSLR – the animals were definitely in the mood to be photographed!
Our other family day included a trip to Mr Mulligan’s Pirate Crazy Golf in Milton Keynes. I think this was my favourite of all three days. It was so much fun and it really felt like we were on holiday. The best thing about crazy golf is that we can all join in together and we’re all pretty rubbish at it! There were no arguments and we all just enjoyed the course and all the different obstacles we encountered. The day ended with a trip to the Lego shop which very nearly made it an incredibly expensive day but luckily we saw sense and left the Disney Castle firmly on the shelf!
I made a short video of our time at Mr Mulligan’s – I would love it if you watched it…especially to see the awesome shot right at the end! If you liked it give it a thumbs up!
I hope you all have a fabulous week whatever you are doing (far too many people seem to be away on holiday for my liking!).
Until next time…
Nicx
