Good Moooorning! This is your Monday Motivation #19 – my 19th opportunity to make your Monday and hopefully your week off to a good start! Today signifies the start of my second week of the Easter break and the most exciting thing is that I’m not even half way through! It has been the best break so far. I know I keep banging on about the weather but I feel that the sunshine just makes every day seem so much better. We haven’t had any major days out just lots of dog walking, a bit of shopping and far too much coffee and cake! Mr C and I had a fab date night. We had dinner at Nando’s (it had to be done) followed by a movie. ‘Get Out’ is not a film I will be rushing out to see again in fact it has got to be one of the worst films I have ever seen, but hey…it was a night out and I enjoyed it anyway!
So today’s Monday Motivation is inspired by my blog figures that I log at the end of every month. For anyone that doesn’t blog these are just a list of stats that I keep to see if my site is growing and consist of my blog traffic, the amount of users, number of page views, social media followers and income plus a few others that I won’t bore you with! If you have been following my posts for a while you will know that I started blogging just over a year ago but only really started taking it seriously in October/November last year. I started tracking my figures in January this year as I felt it was important to see if all the work I was putting in was actually getting me anywhere. I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to figures and spreadsheets, I swear I would’ve made a great accountant! I love to see numbers going in the right direction and get a little buzz of excitement when things are going well…who wouldn’t!
I feel that persistency has definitely been the key these past few months. I have missed the odd Friday post when things have got too busy but I have never missed a Monday Motivation post and it has now become an essential part of my week. My stats are still pretty low compared to many bloggers but they are going in the right direction and that is what matters to me…that is how I determine success. Just as a small example, in January my little website had 484 Sessions, 387 Users and 804 Page Views. I was pretty happy with these figures as before October I don’t think anyone other than close friends and family ever read my posts (my Mum still doesn’t…I think she thinks it’s all very self indulgent!). Last week I compiled my March figures and did a little jump for joy when they had increased to 1093 Sessions, 822 Users and 1419 Page Views! Hee hee!! It’s growing!
A very good friend of mine (you know who you are!) once said that she will know her business is successful because she will see the money rolling in. Whilst I am all for increasing the old bank account I am also very aware that in this business it is about so much more than just making money. I am pleased to say I have moved on from the 75p I made in November but success to me is about people actually reading and enjoying the things I write. I’ve still got a lot to learn and there are so many things I want to add and change on my site but right now it’s about getting out there and finding more people to listen to what I have to say. The lovely comments people leave on my posts really do mean the world to me and make all the late nights and hours tapping away on the computer totally worth it. The words people had to say about my letter to Archie post were so lovely, they brought a tear to my eye…I was so touched. Thank you.
I will continue to be persistent, to strive for the things I want to achieve and then when I have them will be consistent in delivering the things I promise and working as hard as I can to make this little business of mine the best it can be. One of my next jobs is to give you guys a reason to subscribe. Right now, if you subscribe to my blog you will get my posts in your mailbox every time I upload. So if you like these Monday Motivation posts and the sentiment helps start your week off well then why not subscribe? It will be sitting there in your inbox on a Monday morning ready to hopefully inspire you. I will, in the next few weeks, get around to generating some specific content just for my subscribers. If you have any requests of what that might be then feel free to comment below!
Anyway, this has been a much longer post than I had planned but when I start I can’t always stop! I think the sun is taking a rest this week so I suspect we might have some more indoor activities on the agenda. Archie returns from his USA basketball tour this evening so we are all very excited to see him and hear all about his wonderful trip (Phoebe’s just excited about the presents!). What are your plans for the Easter break and have you been out enjoying the sunshine? Have an amazing week whatever you are doing and remember…If you are persistent you will get it. If you are consistent you will keep it.
Until next time…
