Happy Monday Morning! How are we all? I really hope you’ve woken up to sunshine this morning. We are starting to see glimpses of Spring and it is so very welcome! I’ve actually taken a day off work today to spend with the children before they go back to school tomorrow. The Easter holidays have flown by and with the weather so terrible, we’ve really done very little. With me working at home, it can seem a little pointless taking too much time off as I can easily work while the children are at home, but I thought it was important to take at least one day and spend it dedicated to them. If you read my previous weeks’ Monday Motivation posts you will have seen that I was aiming to really stop over the Easter weekend and chill out with my feet up. As I said last week, I did achieve that and it was wonderful to relax and have a proper rest. However, I’m not one to enjoy too much free time, and this week I’ve been craving adventure.
I love spur of the moment adventures and days out and would go away every weekend if we could. Since working at home this longing for adventure has become even stronger as I can get a bit of cabin fever being in the house 7 days a week. Unfortunately, Andrew doesn’t share this feeling as he spends all week on the road driving thousands of miles every month and likes to spend his weekends relaxing at home. I think it’s so important to get outdoors and spend time together as a family and life is so much more than these four walls. We may not be able to get out as much as I would like but we make sure we have little things to look forward to every month which keep us going throughout the year.
As the quote says, life is not about things but about having stories to tell. We have made some amazing memories on our family holidays over the last few years and I am so excited to be making some more this year. I have fulfilled my deep need for adventure this last week by starting to plan our Summer trip. We have had it booked for some time but all the little extras like day trips, car hire and summer clothes need to be sorted. I am an obsessive planner when it comes to holidays and love every second of it! Phoebe and I even went and did her holiday shopping on Saturday which she really enjoyed. We’ve spent 2 years saving for this holiday and I am determined for it to be our best one yet. I can’t wait to share our travels with all of you!
The holiday is still a few months off though so we need to fit in an adventure or two before then. I’m very much looking forward to going up to London in a few weeks for the Country Living Spring Fair. I’ve been to the Christmas one several times, but never the Spring one. We’re even doing some Spring wreath making and I can’t wait to try that! I’m also extremely excited to be taking Archie to see Ed Sheeran in June. The tickets were Archie’s Christmas present and we are both huge fans! I am determined to fit in another visit to the beach over the next month too. I’ve talked about my love of the sea a few times and I’m starting to feel the urge to make another trip. I had actually intended to go to the seaside yesterday, but the weather ended up not being quite as good as we had hoped so I spent the day gutting Archie’s bedroom instead! Not quite what I had hoped to be doing but a job well done nevertheless!
We can become so bogged down in the busyness of life and doing all those jobs we think are so important that we can forget to take time out for adventure. The older I get the quicker the years seem to go by and I never want to get to the end of a year and regret not travelling more, playing more or having more fun. So here’s to the rest of 2018 and a year of adventure and happy family time!
