Well here we are again! I’m really not sure how Monday comes around so quickly every week. I’ve had a better week this week and am beginning to carve a routine for working at home. I’m finding I’m having to work in the evenings quite often which isn’t ideal but it means I get time to do a few jobs in the day and also take the children to their multitude of after school activities and that’s the main reason why I wanted to work at home in the first place. It’s now really just a matter of trying to be as productive as I possibly can in the time I have during the day. I would love to hear some tips from any other home workers on how you stop your minds from wandering and staying motivated to do the task in hand!
Today’s Monday Motivation quote has got to be one of my favourites and something that has been a pretty tough lesson for me to learn. I’ve talked before about the fact that when something doesn’t quite go to plan in my life or when something bad happens I fixate on it. It doesn’t take a lot for a good day to suddenly turn bad just because of one small thing that happened that I wasn’t too happy with! A cross word from someone, the kids not doing as they’re told, rain when it was supposed to be sunny…you name it I’ll moan about it!
Growing up I was known as the chief moaner (I only discovered that when I was an adult!) and the family were probably right. I don’t think I’m an entirely negative person I don’t go looking for the bad, I have just had a habit of fixating on it if it does happen. Over the last few years I’ve done my best to concentrate more on the positives and to definitely try to see the good in every day realising that just because the day didn’t quite go to plan, it doesn’t mean that it was a disaster. One of the reasons for starting these Monday Motivation posts was to force me to think about the positives and to make this site a happy space. Somewhere people can come for a bit of a boost and some uplifting thoughts.
It’s pretty tough to be upbeat and happy all the time, and probably quite unnatural to be honest but I do my best to now see each day as a learning experience and to focus on the small wins. Some of my fellow bloggers are doing similar things with their lives and I love to hear the good things that are happening for them. The lovely Kirsty at Winnettes is documenting her positive thoughts on her own parenting on her YouTube channel – as parents we can often be so down on ourselves I think it’s great to document those things we actually think we might have done well. I also loved an idea shared by Jo at Pickle and Poppet who has started filling a jar with a positive thought from each day to keep herself motivated and upbeat. I think this is a fabulous idea and I never need any excuse to use another jar!
So as well as your positive thought for this week I have also created a free Printable for you to display in a prominent place to help remind you to find the good in every day. Doesn’t it look great?! No day is ever terrible from start to finish, there is always something to be positive about, sometimes it might be more difficult to find than others, but it is always there.
