Good morning! It’s an especially good morning here in the Clarke household as it’s half term so a week off school for the kids and a week off work for me! I have spent the last few days doing very little and it has been bliss! After coming back from our weekend away I wasn’t feeling too motivated to write so decided to take a week off from the blog and do some planning instead. I always want to try and write things that people might actually be vaguely interested in reading which means that just writing because I ought to is a big ‘no no’ for me. It has been full on Autumn for us this weekend and we have got our cosy on and enjoyed some lovely family time.
Archie has been on an orchestra residential course all weekend and so, with Andrew at work on Saturday, Phoebe and I enjoyed a girls’ day at home. The weather was miserable and the wind was howling so we had popcorn and chocolate and watched Arthur Christmas – bliss! On Sunday we did baking, dog walking in the sunshine and some family games once we collected Archie and brought him back into the fold! I love walking out in the sunshine at this time of year. As the quote I have used today says, it bathes everything in a golden light that is so beautiful. My camera has been permanently in my hands these past few weeks – there is so much beauty to capture.
I love this picture. Nothing says Christmas is on it’s way than a gorgeous Christmas tree and beautiful lush holly with bright red berries!
Oh to live in a country village where the local pub puts on days like this! This was taken on our weekend in Devon – happy memories!
On Friday I did something that I haven’t done in a very long time – I shopped until I dropped! Since working part time there hasn’t really been the opportunity to do a really good shopping spree. Don’t get me wrong, I still shop a lot…far more than I should (as Andrew kindly keeps reminding me!), but it’s usually the odd one or two items not a proper haul. If you read my posts regularly you will know I have an obsession with Homesense – My happy place! I regularly wander round looking longingly at things I would love to buy. So when Andrew asked what I wanted for my birthday, it was an easy choice – Homesense vouchers!
So I set aside Friday morning to peruse the shelves and fill my trolley (yes I actually filled a trolley!!) with goodies. I actually found it quite stressful at first as there was definitely a pressure to make sure I spent wisely and got the most for my money. But once I started putting things in it soon got easier! I won’t share what I got just yet, check out my post later in the week for that, but there was a definite theme to a lot of my loot!
You’ll know by now how much I love this time of year and with the days getting shorter there is a definite feeling of cosy in the house. It makes me want to snuggle up on the sofa with a mug of tea. One of my best friends bought me this gorgeous Zoella mug for my birthday and it certainly helps with the ‘Cosy Vibes’!
Whatever you have planned for this week I hope you’re able to enjoy some cosy nights in and some walks in the fresh air and the Autumn sunshine.
Nicx
