Morning Monday Motivation fans! How are we all today? Hopefully everyone has put in place all my tips from last week’s post and are feeling bright and breezy this Monday morning! Weekly weather update…what an amazing weekend we had! Sunny and crisp and Autumnal…. perfect! If you have read any of my recent posts you will know about my ridiculous obsession with Autumn so this sort of weather just makes my heart sing! This week I have been thinking about how we cheer ourselves up when we are feeling blue. We all have those days when we feel a bit rubbish, sometimes for no apparent reason. Some people like to wallow in their own misery and others, like me, try to do things to cheer themselves up and to get back on an even keel again!
On Friday I was having one of those days and when I was supposed to be going home from the school run to do some work at home, my car magically – all by itself – did a rather large detour to our local Homesense! I’m not sponsored by Homesense (oh if only!) but I just can’t get over what an amazing effect that shop has on me! I walk in and instantly feel that all is well with the world! If you haven’t been to Homesense, or don’t know what it is, it’s basically the home department of TK Maxx and has homewear, candles and stationary – what more would anyone need to cheer themselves up! I don’t even need to be buying anything to come out feeling on top of the world – a simple browse amongst the shelves is enough for me! I mean look…how amazing?!
The sunshine definitely helps cheer me up on a bad day and cake of course! Cake is always the answer to any problem! To go with the cake I will happily get one of these babies!
Starbucks have just introduced this Caramelised Pecan Latte and I could absolutely drink this all day long! I fear if I did I probably wouldn’t fit through the door at Starbucks anymore and I would probably be seriously broke but I’d definitely have a smile on my face!
Mark Twain said that the best way to cheer yourself up is to try cheering someone else up. I love this idea, although you could be madly wandering around trying to find someone as miserable as you just in order to cheer them up! I do love the idea of doing little things for other people to make their day better. I don’t always do it enough…I have friends who are great at it and will bring flowers and cards when you are feeling low which is so lovely. It had never occurred to me that they might be feeling rubbish themselves and were just trying to cheer me up to make themselves feel better, but hey…that’s just fine with me!
So, I thought I would set a challenge for my readers today. Whether you’re feeling rubbish or not, try making someone else’s day a bit brighter by doing something nice for them. It might be just sending a little text to someone you haven’t spoken to in ages or dropping a card through someone’s door. Whatever it is, make it thoughtful and, as no good deed is entirely selfless, you should feel pretty wonderful afterwards!
Have a great week!
