A few months ago Phoebe asked me if we could get some Bunchems. I didn’t know a lot about them other than a few posts I’d seen on Facebook where they had got caught in people’s hair so I immediately said ‘No!’ The thought of getting these things caught in her beautiful locks put me right off and I thought nothing more of it. I was then given the opportunity to receive a Bunchems Bunchbot to review so thought it was a perfect opportunity to have a look at it and see if it was actually as bad as I had read!
Bunchems build like no other toy. You squish them together to make any design you like and the Bunchbot helps to make more complex creations. You can add 3D accessories to bring your project to life!
The Bunchems Bunchbot arrived a few days ago and to say Phoebe was excited was an understatement! I knew I wanted to film the unboxing for my Youtube channel so we couldn’t open it straight away and it was like torture for the poor girl! I eventually gave in yesterday and we dived into the box to see what it was all about. Here is our review!
As you can tell we thought the Bunchems Bunchbot was awesome! No worries about hair at all – in fact one dropped on the floor and got stuck on the dog’s ear but it just came right off. Archie put one on his short hair and again it lifted straight off. I’m not suggesting anyone should fill their hair with them and would suggest long hair is kept well out of the way, but I believed everything I had seen on social media and I wish I hadn’t!
We made two models and they were so easy and straight forward to make. We were a bit heavy handed the first time and bent one of the spindles but it was easy to straighten it back up and we just took a bit more care next time. You can use the Bunchems to make your own models or you can use the book of ideas and the Bunchbot to make some great creations!
The Bunchems Bunchbot is recommended for children 6+ and Phoebe was more than capable of playing with it on her own once she had been shown what to do. In fact once we had made the video she went off upstairs and she and Archie both spent ages making lots of little creatures and photographing them!
The Bunchbot comes with enough Bunchems to make all the ideas in the book but most of your models will have to be taken apart to make a new one as there aren’t quite enough to make more than one at a time. You can purchase more Bunchems though to enable you to keep some of your models on display.
We thought the Bunchems Bunchbot was great fun and Phoebe gave it 10/10! She has asked for more for her birthday and we’ll definitely add them to her list!

This looks like such a fun toy. I know that my son would love to play with this. It a great, less messy alternative to play dough!
The best toy review comes from the smile on a child’s face when they are playing with it. From her smile, it is a huge success!
I do not have any children so I am not really sure who I could get this for, but it is seriously so stinking cute!! It’s little face makes me happy ^_^

This looks like it would be so fun for a young kid! I would have loved this when I was younger.
My nieces were given these for Christmas, and I remember them getting stuck on my daughter’s clothes. I had no idea what they were really, until I read this post. It looks like a brilliant arts and crafts kit for children. Thanks for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
